A new validation for water microbiology in February 2015

As of 27th February 2015, 15 methods for microbiological water analysis are certified NF VALIDATION. The methods for quantification of Legionella using PCR are certified according to a protocol based on NF T90-471 and ISO/TS 12869 standards. The other methods are certified according to a specific technical protocol, developed by AFNOR Certification that compares the alternative method to a standard method.

During their meeting held on 26th February 2015:

The Water Technical Board “General protocol” validated a new method: Enterolert-E/Quanti-Tray or Quanti-Tray 2000 for the enumeration of intestinal enterococci in bathing waters. Other validation files are currently submitted to examination.

The Water Technical Board “PCR Legionella” revised the applicable validation protocol, in order to integrate the requirements of the new NF T90-471 standard (issuing very soon). The validation protocol draft and its transition modalities will be submitted to the approval of the NF Validation Experts Committee, before being published.

NF VALIDATION: News on the side of Food microbioloogy validation

As of February 6th 2015, 117 microbiological methods in the food industry including 3 antibiotic detection methods are certified NF VALIDATION. All the microbiological methods are validated according to the NF EN ISO 16140 :2003 standard protocol requirements.

During its meeting held on February 6th 2015, the NF VALIDATION “Technical Board – Food Microbiology” approved by vote:

- The validation renewals of the following methods: 3M Petrifilm Staph Express Test System A and B (3M Health Care), AccuProbe Listeria monocytogenes (bioMérieux) and MicroSEQ E. coli O157: H7 (Life Technologies).

- The validation extensions to the categories “Pet food” and “Industrial environment samples” for the Test 3M Petrifilm Coliforms Count Plate(A), Test 3M Petrifilm Aerobic Count Plate and Test 3M Petrifilm Select E. coli  Count Plate, and to the category “Industrial environment samples” for the Test 3M Petrifilm Enterobacteriaceae Count Plate(3M Health Care).

Others files are under the process of validation.

The news on the water validation side

As of 8th January 2015, 14 methods for microbiological water analysis are certified NF VALIDATION. The methods for quantification of Legionella using PCR are certified according to a protocol based on NF T90-471 and ISO/TS 12869 standards. The other methods are certified according to a specific technical protocol, developed by AFNOR Certification that compares the alternative method to a standard method.

During its meeting held the 7th November 2014, the Water Technical Board “General protocol” validated, for Colilert-18 applicable to bathing water, the possibility to use either the Quanti-Tray or the Quanti-Tray 2000. Other validation files are currently submitted to examination.

A new version of the NF T90-471 standard is going to be published. A new meeting of the Water Technical Board “PCR Legionella” will be held very soon, in order to estimate the impact of the new standard on the validation protocol and validation files. Modalities of transition to integrate new requirements will be defined in the context of NF VALIDATION mark.

NF VALIDATION: New validations for food microbiology scheme

As of November 28th 2014, 117 microbiological methods in the food industry including 3 antibiotic detection methods are certified NF VALIDATION. All the microbiological methods are validated according to the NF EN ISO 16140 standard protocol requirements.

During its meeting held on November 27th and 28th 2014, the NF VALIDATION “Technical Board – Food Microbiology” approved by vote:

- The validation of a new method: ESIA One Day (bioMérieux) for detection of Cronobacter spp in infant formulas (liquids and powders), milk powders and dehydrated complements of infant formulas, matrices used in the composition of infant formulas (liquids and powders) and soy milk, environmental samples from milk powders and infant formulas industries.

- The validation renewal of the following methods: 3M Petrifilm High Sensitivity Coliform Count Plate (3M Health Care), chromeID Coli Agar at 37°C (bioMérieux), chromeID Coli Agar at 44°C(bioMérieux), chromeID Coli Agar for coliforms at 37°C (bioMérieux), RAPID’Listeria spp (BIO-RAD), BAX System PCR Assay Salmonella spp (DuPont Qualicon) and COMPASS Listeria AGAR (SOLABIA).

As of October 3rd 2014, 118 microbiological methods in the food industry including 3 antibiotic detection methods are certified NF VALIDATION. All the microbiological methods are validated according to the NF EN ISO 16140 standard protocol requirements.

During its meeting held on October 2nd  and 3rd 2014, the NF VALIDATION “Technical Board – Food Microbiology” approved by vote:

- The validation of a new method: D-Count TVC (bioMérieux) for the enumeration of Mesophilic Aerobic Flora in the pasteurized dairy based desserts, UHT milks and meats products.

- The validation renewal of the following methods: TEMPO EB (bioMérieux), GeneDisc Listeria spp (PALL GeneDisc Technologies), GeneDisc Listeria monocytogenes (PALL GeneDisc Technologies), and HQS Cronobacter spp Sybr (ADNucleis).

As of July 3rd 2014, 120 microbiological methods in the food industry as well as 3 antibiotic detection methods are certified NF VALIDATION. All the microbiological methods are validated according to the NF EN ISO 16140 standard protocol requirements.

During its meeting held on  July 3rd 2014, the NF VALIDATION “Technical Board – Food Microbiology” approved by vote:

- The validation of a new method: 3M Rapid Yeast and Mold Petrifilm Plate (3M Health Care) for the enumeration of Yeast and Mold in all human food products, animal feed and environmental samples

- The validation renewal (without modifications) of the following methods: ADIAFOOD Salmonella (bioMérieux), ALOA COUNT (bioMérieux), Listeria Precis Enumeration (OXOID Ltd), MicroSEQ Salmonella spp (Life Technologies), Premi-Test (R-Biopharm AG), RAPID’L. mono/Gélose Detection (BIO-RAD) et VIDAS SLM/Single selective enrichment (bioMérieux)

- The validation extension of the method ThermoScientific SureTect Listeria spp PCR Assay (OXOID Ltd) to all human food and feed products and production environment samples

As of May 13th, 2014, 14 methods for microbiological water analysis are certified NF VALIDATION. The methods for detection / quantification of Legionella using PCR are certified according to a protocol based on NF T90-471 and ISO/TS 12869 standards. The other methods are certified according to a specific technical protocol, developed by AFNOR Certification, that compares the alternative method to a standard method.

During its meeting held on May 13th, 2014, the NF VALIDATION “Technical Board – Water General protocol” approved by vote:

- The validation renewal of the method Xplorer64/Chek’N Safe Enterococci (Bio-Rad)

Others new methods are currently following the validation process.

NF VALIDATION was attributed to 119 microbiological methods

As of May 16th , 2014, 119 microbiological methods in the food industry as well as 3 antibiotic detection methods are certified NF VALIDATION. All the microbiological methods are validated according to the NF EN ISO 16140 standard protocol requirements.

During its meeting held on May 15th and 16th 2014, the NF VALIDATION “Technical Board – Food Microbiology” approved by vote:

- The validation renewal of the methods VIDAS LIS , VIDAS LMO2, VIDAS SLM Dual Selective enrichment, BACARA (bioMérieux), BAX System RT-PCR Assay E. coli O157:H7 (Dupont Qualicon)
- The validation extension of the methods VIDAS SPT and VIDAS ECPT (bioMérieux) for a new protocol in 25g sample sizes specific to raw beef and raw veal including seasoned meats (enrichment in BPW + Vancomycin Additive in 16-24 hours), SOLUS Salmonella ELISA (Solus Scientific Solutions Ltd) extending its scope to all human food and feed products and production environment samples (except those from primary production).
